Fibershed DACH was established in January 2021 to unite the German-speaking regions of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland under a common goal of promoting sustainable textile production. The affiliate is led by a board of four women and supported by an advisory board of three experts. Since launching its membership programme last year, Fibershed DACH has grown to around 70 members, which include shepherds, craftspeople, designers, industry professionals, and academic representatives.

The primary focus of Fibershed DACH is to raise awareness for regional, sustainable, and circular textile practices through a variety of communication channels and events. This includes both online talks and offline gatherings that foster networking among stakeholders along regional supply chains. A significant aspect of their work is identifying gaps within these supply chains and developing innovative solutions to address them. Current projects include the creation of a wool library and a bast fibre production initiative.

By providing a community space on Slack and developing resources like a material supplier directory, Fibershed DACH broadens collaboration and knowledge-sharing among its members. The affiliate is dedicated to making local, sustainable production visible, helping to connect the dots within the textile industry and support a regenerative future.
